About us

What is Community Ark?

Community Ark is a group of Jesus Followers who have been hanging out online since the spring of 2022. We began because some of us wanted to journey with Jesus but couldn't attend church for various reasons. As we grew, we realised that not only had we created a safe space for ourselves, we could also offer that safety to those who wanted to explore faith and spirituality outside of the confines of physical church.

We mainly congregate in our private Facebook group and chats, but we also meet online weekly on Zoom, at The Gathering on a Sunday evening  for Worship, Study, Prayer & Fellowship.  If you would be interested in joining us at an Online Gathering you can join our Group www.facebook.com/groups/communityark. The Group is a safe space for you to express yourselves, engage with Inclusive church community and explore your faith/spirituality. We Moderate posts for your safety and follow Safeguarding policies & procedures which can be found at https://www.hereford.anglican.org/safeguarding. You will be asked a couple of questions around kindness, respect and confidentiality on requesting to join..

If you do not have Facebook but would like to join an online Zoom Gathering or just find out more, please drop us a message in the Contact Us Section.

How is Community Ark a safe space?

Some of us haven't always felt safe in church because of our neurodiversity, physical disability, mental health issues, or sexuality. We're not saying that all in-person churches are unwelcoming of these characteristics; it's just  that  we hadn't found churches where we felt completely at home. But we do love Jesus. And we want to follow him. So we thought we'd start our own space. Online. And as we've grown, we've discovered that we are also a safe space for spiritual explorers. Or so they tell us. So, whoever you are, whatever your difficulties, however far along the Jesus path you are... you are so very welcome.

So what does Community Ark  believe?

Although the core group of Community Ark are all Jesus followers, we don't necessarily have identical beliefs about the Bible. For example, some of us believe in a literal 6 day creation, whilst some of us don't. Some of us love the story of Noah, whilst some of us are horrified by it. But whatever our disagreements, we refuse to let them get in the way of loving one another or being family together. In fact, we enjoy a good old debate. We love learning from one another and find that life is so much richer because we are not all the same.
